We're talking A LOT of hype surrounding this movie folks. Apologies in advance for the horrible Green Goblin impressions throughout.
Ep 43 - Paddington (2014)
Jason Furie loathes movies that feature half-assed CGI bipedal animals interacting in a live-action environment. Adam Roth is surprisingly ok with it. We dared our listeners to have us watch and review 2014's Paddington by using the hashtag #paddington4lyfe and we lost. In more ways than one according to Jason. Well, we watched it, and now we're reviewing it.
Ep 42 - Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
Remember the 2016 Ghostbusters remake? Me either. Fast forward to 2021 and we don't get another remake, but rather a full-on sequel with Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Think of it like The Force Awakens for the Ghostbusters universe. It's like a cover to a song you really love but something just doesn't feel right. Jason Furie and Adam Roth give their full review, discuss their theatre-going experiences, and make fun of kids for nearly an hour.

We also chat about Marvel's MCU Phase 4 offerings to date including Black Widow, Shang-Chi, and a slew of Disney+ streaming shows.

Ep 38 - Blood Simple (1984)
The film Blood Simple (1984) was a launch pad for a lot of top Hollywood talent including Joel and Ethan Coen, Barry Sonnenfeld, and Frances McDormand. It's also a pretty solid flick. Kinda like the Evil Dead of film noir. Jason Furie and Adam Roth review and discuss this dark, gritty, and violent film featuring an excellent ensemble cast. They also try and figure out if it has anything to do with JTT or The Lion King. Maybe?

Frank Herbert's sci-fi masterpiece Dune is getting yet another reboot after David Lynch's 1984 cult classic, and the SyFy mini series from 2000. This time around director Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049, Arrival) gives it a go alongside a slew of awesome acting talent. How does this new film compare to the book and previous movie and TV iterations? Was deciding to divide the adaptation of the first book into 2 films a good idea? Do Jason Furie and Adam Roth enjoy eating stale Cadbury Creme eggs? Only one way to find out friends.

Squid Game is the most watched Netflix Original Series to date. Jason Furie and Adam Roth had to climb aboard the hype-train and witness what all the fuss was about. Believe the hype, Squid Game is here and it's pretty awesome. Sure there's some obvious inspiration pulled from Battle Royale, but that's ok because this is much better than The Hunger Games. Sorry Katniss. We review all 9 episodes of this highly entertaining pop-culture phenomenon.
Ep 33 - Star Wars: Visions

Oh and we already forget what happened in a handful of these episodes. So theres's that.

This movie is bad. Like, really bad. James Wan is a very capable writer and director, but his latest film Malignant (2021) is just offensively bad on so many levels. Jason Furie and Adam Roth break it down and review Wan's return to the horror genre while being completely baffled why this movie has so much positive buzz. What has become of the horror genre? This can't be the future.
Ep 31 - Kate (2021)
Are Netflix Originals the equivalent to straight-to-DVD movies or the dawn of a new era in cinematic history? Or maybe somewhere in-between? Jason Furie and Adam Roth review the latest Netflix Original Kate starring the under-appreciated Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Woody "I'm just here for the paycheck" Harrelson. Does this John Wick clone have what it takes to be remembered as an action flick masterpiece? Wait, did Adam even see John Wick!?
Ep 30 - Val (2021)

Ep 28 - Stalker (1979)
This film demands your full attention. Jason Furie fully committed his mind and body to this experience while Adam Roth possibly did no such thing and now lives in regret. Guess who enjoyed this film more? We review Andrei Tarkovsky's 1979 sci-fi cult classic "Stalker" that is sure to generate some conflicting opinions and interpretations. If you're going to watch this one, be sure get The Criterion Collection edition 2K remaster. It's amazing.
