It's been 2 years since we did an episode. So sue us! Jason Furie and Adam Roth are such huge Alien franchise fans that they just had to talk about Alien: Romulus (2024) from director Fede Alvarez. Did we love it or loathe it? One way to find out...
Ep 84 - The Witches (1990)
Based on a children's book by Roald Dahl, with puppet master Jim Henson as Exectutive Producer, and star Anjelica Huston how could anything go wrong!? Jason Furie and Adam Roth dive into The Witches (1990) and see how this 90s classic stands the test of time. We didn't bother with the Disney+ 2020 remake. It looks kinda like hot garbage. Happy Spooky Season everyone!
Ep 83 - Andor (2022) 3-Episode Premiere
Are you tired of new Star Wars shows on Disney+ yet? Neither are we! Jason Furie and Adam Roth jump into the newest series on the block Andor to discuss the 3 episode premiere. Ep 82 - Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
For better or for worse, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is a very different place after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019). Jason Furie and Adam Roth watch the latest MCU film Thor: Love and Thunder (2022) and ultimately decide how it stacks up against the other 3 Thor films, Thor comic books, and the MCU at large. Also, we passionately agree that this film should have been called simply—Fhor.
Ep 81 - CODA (2021)
Does anyone really care if a movie wins an Academy Award for Best Picture anymore? Well, Jason Furie and Adam Roth figured the winner has to be at least a half-decent movie right? With that theory in mind, they check out last year's winner CODA (2021), which stands for Child of Deaf Adults, about a young woman who is the only hearing person in her family. Simply put...this movie deserves any award that comes its way.
Ep 80 - Romancing the Stone (1984)
Believe it or not Jason Furie had never seen the 80s classic Romancing the Stone (1984) and Adam Roth had never seen it as an adult. Well, they both just watched it and you may be surprised by their reactions. Do you adore this Robert Zemeckis classic starring Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas, or do you consider it a "Raiders rip-off"?
Ep 79 - Thirteen Lives (2022)
We don't typically cover based-on-a-true-story films, but Thirteen Lives (2022) directed by Ron Howard seemed worth a watch. A retelling of the June 2018 incident where twelve Thai adolescents and their soccer coach were trapped in a flooded cave for 18 days and in need of rescue. Jason Furie and Adam Roth break it down and try and figure out why Viggo Mortensen and Colin Farrell are so unrecognizable here.
Ep 78 - After Yang (2022)
In the mood for something a little slower, a little more dreamy, a little more...chill. Jason Furie and Adam Roth watch After Yang (2022) from director Kogonada starring Colin Farrell. We're always up for anything from A24 and this one seemed to be right up our alley. Full review of the film as well as a full review of Coca Cola's newest limited edition flavor Dreamlike...spoiler alert, it's rancid.
Ep 77 - Prey (2022)
Never thought we'd say this, but you have to check out this new Hulu original film! Set 300 years in the past, Prey tells the story of a group of Native American hunters who become the hunted who then become the hunters of the hunter hunting them. It's all quite simple we promise. Did we mention Amber Midthunder is amazing?
Ep 76 - The Rock-afire Explosion (2008)
Are you old enough to remember Showbiz Pizza? Did you ever witness a performance by the animatronic animal band The Rock-afire Explosion? Either way, The Rock-afire Explosion (2008) is a very interesting look at a little slice of the 80s and 90s that holds a dear place in at least 5 people's heart. This documentary is about a lot more than just fun and games. Jason Furie and Adam Roth dive are exploding with excitement for this one.
Ep 75 - Nope (2022)
Director Jordan Peele is going for a horror hat trick with his third film Nope (2022) hot off the heels of Get Out (2017) and Us (2019). Jason Furie and Adam Roth review this sci-fi horror mashup. How does it stack up against Peele's other films? How does it stack up against fellow alien invasions flicks? Find out if Peele still has what it takes or if he'll be commiserating with M. Night Shyamalan at the old Hollywood water-cooler.
Ep 74 - Runaway Train (1985)
One of us wants off this damn train-wreck of a movie! The other is wearing their conductor's hat yelling "choo choo"! Jason Furie and Adam Roth watch Andrey Konchalovskiy's film Runaway Train (1985) featuring a screenplay written by legendary filmmaker Akira Kurosawa. Jon Voight and Eric Roberts star in this award-winning action/thriller about a, well, runaway train.
Ep 73 - Old (2021)
There's no denying the impact director M. Night Shyamalan has had on the film industry. He made movie twists cool again. After his triple A hat trick consisting of The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and Signs he made quite a few stinky poo poos. Jason Furie and Adam Roth are patiently waiting for his glorious return. Does Old (2021) have what it takes or is his style, well, just getting old? Let's find out.
Ep 72 - Rashomon (1950)
One crime. Four versions of the truth. Rashomon (1950) was director Akira Kurosawa's international breakthrough film, and for good reason. A highly influential film that created a new narrative structure that is still borrowed and celebrated in film's we see today. This is the dawn of the unreliable narrator and completely re-imagined how filmmakers approach flashbacks. While the influence in undeniable, is the film any good? And does is stand the test of time? Jason Furie and Adam Roth attempt to dissect this one. We tried.
Ep 71 - The Seventh Seal (1957)
Director Ingmar Bergman has many, many classic films but none are quite as popular as The Seventh Seal (1957). Both Jason Furie and Adam Roth watch this one for the very first time. How does it hold up in 2022? A very young and very angular Max von Sydow star in this painfully literal tale about a man's relationship with life, death, and one helluva game of chess.
Ep 70 - Obi-Wan Kenobi (Limited Series)
For better or for worse, we now have 6 hours of story to help fill the gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Jason Furie and Adam Roth review and discuss the entire 6-episode Disney+ limited series Obi-Wan Kenobi. Star Wars is tough business, you can't please all the rabid fans no matter how hard you try. Did director Deborah Chow deliver a story worth telling or should this one have stayed is the belly of the great Sarlacc?
Ep 69 - Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Tom Cruise takes to the skies once again in Top Gun: Maverick (2022) a truly epic sequel to the 1980's classic Top Gun (1986). Jason Furie's favorite actor is Tom Cruise. Adam Roth's favorite actor is not Tom Cruise. Podcasting hijinks ensues as these two meatballs chat about the film, and may or may not go on useless tangent involving the death of Paddington. Either way, Top Gun is back baby and we have a lot to talk about.
Ep 68 - Five Easy Pieces (1970)
Director Bob Rafelson and actor Jack Nicholson have collaborated on 6 films together including the film classic Five Easy Pieces (1970). Jason Furie and Adam Roth both haven't seen this one until now. We have a lot to talk about.

Jason Furie and Adam Roth are so very excited to start talking about this one we just couldn't wait for the whole season to end. Hello there! Let's talk about the 2 episode Premiere.
Ep 66 - The Northman (2022)
Director Robert Eggers goes full Viking with his third feature film The Northman (2022). Jason Furie and Adam Roth share their thoughts and may or may not go on a ton of random tangents that may or may not be about Buzz Lightyear. A-listers Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, and Anya Taylor-Joy star, but was that enough to capture our attention?
